The winner of the inaugural Dunleer AC 4 Mile Road Race on Saturday August 13th was Andrew Ledwith (Fr. Murphy's AC) in 19 minutes 41 seconds, while the winner of the Ladies race in a super 23.15 was Tullyallen girl Fiona Roche. Fiona was a juvenile and junior athlete with Dunleer AC and is now living and working in Dublin, and representing Raheny Shamrocks. Dunleer AC had a fourth position in Martin Quinn, just back from injury and the men's team of Quinn, Carl Dunne, Seán Carpenter and Darren Carrie finished in second place behind Dunshaughlin AC. The Dunleer AC ladies team were also in 2nd position, this time behind Donore Harriers. Scoring members for Dunleer AC were Geraldine Finegan, Sandra Brennan-Doheny, Jillian Brennan-Leavy and Aileen O Brien-Carrie. David Carrie's "Team Carrie" ladies finished in 3rd position with Linda Meehan, Karen Costello, Adeline Smyth and Emma Brennan.

Congratulations to all who participated. This race was held in memory of two extraordinary men who served as Dunleer AC committee members, and who supported athletics, all of their lives; Seán Carrie (RIP) and Ollie Brennan (RIP). Dunleer AC was very proud to dedicate these two races, senior men and senior ladies, to these two great men. Many thanks to their families; to their respective wives Marie Carrie and Marie Brennan, and to their children for their support and for allowing the Club to dedicate the inaugural 4 Mile Road Races to Seán and Ollie. Many thanks to all of of our sponsors and to the people of Dunleer for accommodating the race. Thanks to all of our stewards, helpers and supporters, and many thanks to Bernadette Mc Guill for helping Tom Neary start the race.
