The Dunleer AC committee was looking forward
to another fantastic year, with the return of Rás na hÉireann cross country on
February 20th 2022 at the beautiful, historic OPW site at Oldbridge, where the
Battle of the Boyne took place in 1690. Unfortunately the weather was
pretty awful, but we persevered and thanks to Shay Sheridan and his parking
team, plus the good humour of all involved we pulled it off and a great day was
had by all!
It
truly is an amazing course for cross country and the committee works hard to organise a brilliant day for athletics fans. This
was the 51st Rás and Dunleer Athletic Club was delighted to hear from old friends and new who
supported, sponsored, participated and enjoyed the event.
Larry
Mc Guill Rás na hÉireann, as it is fondly named now since the passing of the
great Larry Mc Guill in 2011 was a great event and we took time to reflect on the history of the Club and the sport,
with Armagh Athletic Club supporting the cross border link and the Mc Guill,
Duffin and Floyd families invited to present the Cups to the winning teams.
Thanks to My Run Results for their
great work on the day managing entries and results.
