The 52nd Rás na hÉireann, incorporating the Noel Mc Guill and Sandra Floyd Cups
Announcement: New venue in Dunleer beside Dunleer AC Clubrooms, due to bad weather last year and the uncertainty of parking conditions, if the weather was very wet again. Dunleer has better parking, and of course hosting the Rás in Dunleer is always a treat!
We hosted the 52nd Rás na hÉireann on Sunday February 19th 2023! Dunleer AC was very excited to announce both the date and the new Rás Director..... Noel Williams. The Club was delighted that Noel had taken on the role, following in the footsteps of the Rás founder Larry Mc Guill (RIP) and the Matthews duo Jackie and Kevin! We wished Noel every success and knew that the Club, the County and of course all of Ireland would get behind this event and help Rás Director Noel Williams and Dunleer AC Chairman Ian Carroll to organise a spectacular day of cross country running once again.
The Armagh Road Race on February 9th got the ball rolling for this traditional feast of winter running, formerly the International Sport and Culture week. The historical week saw good times in the past with Larry Mc Guill in Dunleer, Brian Vallely in Armagh and Charlie Breagy in Rhode Island working together to produce a great show for all running fans. Although the Sport and Culture Week does not exist in the old format, the tradition of Armagh AC hosting a road race in February followed by Dunleer AC hosting a cross country race continues.
