Larry Mc Guill, Honorary President (1940-2011) Rest in Peace
Larry Mc Guill, Honorary President of Dunleer Athletic Club and founder of Rás na hÉireann International Cross Country sadly passed away on Saturday evening 30th July and the Club was in mourning. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Many thanks to all of our Club members, past and present, who were part of the ceremonies. Larry would have been very proud to see so many friends gathering together to honour his memory.
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
Larry's Months Mind Mass was held in Dunleer on September 3rd.

Larry worked with the Community to promote athletics for decades.  He was the driving force beheind many initiatives including the Mater Foundation Heart Health, as well as the famous Rás na hÉireann.  He worked on so many committees and was always on hand to help with organising training, sports days, Setanta Games, Rás na hÉreann, fundraising for charity and all manner of projects in and around the Dunleer area. His good friends Charlie Breagy, Declan Mc Kenna, Tommy Neary and Jacqueline Matthews were always on hand to help out, as was his nephew David Carrie, who himself ran 7 marathons in 7 days as part of a Sports and Culture Festival to raise awareness of heart health, among other projects!
