Rás na hÉireann 2012 took place on
February 12th at Oldbridge, Drogheda, with Coca Cola and Athletics Ireland as
sponsors. Winner of the Larry Mc Guill Cup for winner of Rás na hÉireann was
Landon Peacock USA.
The Rás na hÉireann was of
particular importance this year in the athletics calendar. Dunleer Athletic
Club celebrated the life of Larry Mc Guill, who sadly passed away during the
summer of 2011. Rás 2012 was called the Larry Mc Guill Rás na hÉireann in
Larry's honour and the race was once again linked with the Armagh International

Dunleer AC and the Rás Committee
hosted the very successful International Coca Cola Larry Mc Guill Rás na
hÉireann Cross country at Oldbridge, Drogheda and there are so many people to
thank!

The Coca Cola Larry Mc Guill Rás na
hÉireann and the International Week of Sport and Culture was launched on
Wednesday evening 1st February at Oldbridge House. The Rás Committee was
delighted to welcome the President of Athletics Ireland, Liam Hennessy, Pat
Cheshire, Chairman Louth Athletics County Board, Micky Johnston winner of the
first Rás in 1970, the secretary of Armagh Athletic Club, Siobhan Shortt of
Coca Cola, Mark Stephenson and Fr. Michael Hickey as well as a host of
